Hail damage repair for Tulsa roofs that took a hit.

Your roof just caught a spring storm. Your adjuster is calling you back Thursday. You need documentation that holds up, a crew that shows up the same week, and a company that does not vanish after the check clears. That is what this page is about.

Q: How do I know if my Tulsa roof has hail damage?

A: Look for circular dark marks on shingles, dents in metal flashing or roof vents, granule buildup in your gutters, and dings on your AC condenser fins. If you see any of those, schedule an inspection within 30 days. Most damage is invisible from the ground.

Tulsa sits square in the Oklahoma hail belt. From April through June, supercell storms roll across the metro and drop ice on thousands of roofs in a single evening. The National Weather Service logs more large-hail events in the Tulsa corridor than in almost any other metro in the country. That is not marketing language. It is a weather pattern.

Most hail damage is not visible from the ground. You will not see cracked shingles from your driveway. You will not notice the granule loss until your gutters clog or a leak shows up two winters later. The only way to know what a storm did to your roof is to get someone on it with a ladder, a drone, and a camera.

We inspect hail-damaged roofs across Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bixby, and 30+ surrounding cities. The inspection is free. The PDF is yours to keep whether you hire us or not.

Signs of hail damage

Eight things to check today.

You can check most of these from the ground or your attic. If you spot two or more, call us.
01

Circular dark marks on shingles

Hail impacts bruise the mat underneath. They look like dark spots or dimples, usually 1 to 2 inches across.

02

Granules collecting in gutters

After a hail event, run your hand through the downspout trough. A handful of granules means your shingles are shedding their protective coating.

03

Dented flashing or roof vents

Soft metals dent before shingles crack. Check pipe boots, ridge vents, and chimney flashing for dings.

04

Cracked or missing shingle tabs

High-velocity ice can shatter brittle shingles or knock entire tabs off the roof. Check the ground around your home.

05

Dings on your AC condenser fins

Your condenser sits at ground level and catches the same ice your roof does. Bent fins confirm hail size and severity.

06

Dented or chipped window screens

Window frames and screens are soft aluminum. Dents on west-facing windows confirm storm direction and intensity.

07

Dimpled siding or fence caps

Vinyl siding cracks. Wood siding chips. Fence caps dent. If the siding took hits, the roof took hits.

08

Ceiling stains or attic moisture

Sometimes damage does not show on the surface. Water intrusion in the attic after a storm is a red flag that shingle integrity is compromised.

The insurance question

How Oklahoma insurance handles hail claims.

Oklahoma is an Actual Cash Value (ACV) and Replacement Cost Value (RCV) state, meaning your payout depends on your policy type. ACV policies deduct depreciation. RCV policies pay the full replacement cost, with the depreciation held back until the work is finished. If you have an RCV policy, you get the recoverable depreciation check after we complete the install and submit the final invoice to your carrier.

We meet your adjuster on the roof. That is not a courtesy. It is the single most important step in the claims process. Adjusters who walk a roof with a contractor who can point out every impact, explain the damage pattern, and reference the inspection PDF approve more of the scope. Adjusters who walk alone miss things.

One thing we will never ask you to do: sign an Assignment of Benefits (AOB). An AOB transfers your insurance rights to the contractor. Some storm chasers use them to inflate claims or sue your carrier on your behalf. We do not operate that way. You keep your rights. You control the claim. We do the work.

Every day you wait, your filing window gets shorter.

Why AE Roofing

We are not the truck that showed up after the storm.

After every hail event in Tulsa, trucks with out-of-state plates line up on residential streets. They knock doors. They offer free inspections. They push for signatures before the adjuster even shows up. They are called storm chasers, and they are the reason the roofing industry has a trust problem.

AE Roofing is headquartered in Tulsa. We were here before the storm. We will be here after the warranty kicks in. Our crews are vetted professionals, not subcontracted day labor. Our project managers carry the same phone number from your first call through your 24-month follow-up inspection.

We do not need a hail event to stay in business. We roof Tulsa homes year-round. The storm just makes the phone ring louder.

Hail damage FAQ

Questions before
the adjuster comes.

Not on the list? Call us. A human picks up. Usually on the second ring.

Ask us directly
Most Oklahoma homeowner policies give you one year from the date of the storm to file a hail damage claim. Some carriers have shortened that window to six months. Check your declarations page or call your agent now. Waiting costs you nothing, but missing the deadline costs you the entire claim.
Oklahoma law prohibits insurers from raising your premium solely because you filed a weather-related claim. Hail is an act of nature, not negligence. That said, carriers can non-renew policies in high-claim ZIP codes, so it is worth asking your agent about your specific situation.
Yes. If the damage is limited to a few shingles or a section of flashing, a cash repair may make more sense than a claim. We will tell you honestly whether the scope justifies involving your insurer.
Most residential hail repairs finish in one to three days. A full replacement after a total-loss hail event takes three to five days. We schedule the install within two weeks of your approved claim.
It happens. Adjusters are human and sometimes miss impacts on steep slopes or rear-facing planes. We can request a re-inspection with a field adjuster present on the roof. Our drone documentation and hail-impact photos give them data they can not argue with.
Getting two or three estimates is smart. But make sure at least one comes from a local roofer who will meet your adjuster on the roof, not just drop off a number. That meeting is where claims get approved or denied.
